Hotels & Venue: The hotel in Athens is the Grand Bretagne Hotel (www.hotelgrandebretagne.gr and www.marriott.com), the hotel in Corfu is the Eva Palace (www.evapalace.com) and the hotel/venue in Corfu is the Grecotel Imperial Hotel (www.corfuimperial.com)

Visa: You do not need Visa for Greece. However, if you are planning to travel to other countries during this visit, please check with their visa requirements.

Passport:You need an updated passport.

Luggage: Aegean airlines regulations indicate that each passenger is allowed only 1 suitcase up to 23kg in weight. We suggest that you limit your checked-in luggage to one piece per passenger. Should you decide to bring additional baggage than that allowed by the airlines, please inform us

Dress Code & Weather: The dress code for all social events, including Welcome Cocktails, Dinners and the Gala dinner is dressy casual. Please note that during this week you will be visiting archeological sites, so comfortable shoes, hats and sun protection are strongly recommended.

For those traveling for the first time to Greece, please note that June is a hot month with an average temperature in Athens ranging from 74F to 84F. Corfu is usually 3-4 degrees cooler and humid (Normally). Since all dinners will be held outdoors, ladies and children may need something extra (light sweater, pashmina) for the night chill!

Various: The hotels chosen for your accommodation offer upscale service, so you will not need beach towels. If you have any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) please inform us. For those arriving on June 16th, we will provide you with a “meet and greet service” at the airport along with a transfer. For those participants arriving other date than 16th, we will provide you with a transfer to the Grande Bretagne Hotel. 

Currency: Euro, the exchange rate (today) is approx 1 US$ equals 1,03€.

Credit cards: All major credits cards VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX, DINERS are accepted (but not debit cards)Please be aware that you have to call your credit card company and inform them you will be traveling to Greece before you leave.

Electricity: Simple European wall adaptors are necessary for your phones, pcs, etc.  Since, voltage in Europe is 220 volts at 50 cycles, about twice that of American systems, you will need electric converters for any other small appliances. Hotels provide hair dryers in the room.

Internet: Both hotels offer free WiFi in all rooms, public areas lobby, lounges, and restaurant.

Hospitality Desk: On Friday June 16th a hospitality desk in the Grande Bretagne Hotel, lobby level will operate from 14.00 till 20.00. It is very important that all participants should visit our desk. Sophia, Denia, Katerina and Dionysia will be there to assist you with the following:

  • Dinner reservations – Friday and Saturday - restaurant suggestions
  • Delivery of air tickets and necessary travel documents
  • Optional activities reservations in Corfu
  • Cashier for settling accounts and invoices. AMEX, VISA, MASTERCARD are accepted.
  • Babysitting available, you will need to sign up
  • Shopping afternoon in Athens on Saturday June 17th. Following the lunch at the Acropolis Museum, you can either go back to the hotel and enjoy the pool or go for shopping or walking in the city center of Athens. Since there are different shopping areas and interests, the Athens City Convention Bureau is offering volunteers to escort you in small groups with the same interest. Therefore we have made the following routes (duration 3 hours): The groups will be maximum 7 persons.
  1. Walk through Plaka, Flea Market area and souvenirs shops
  2. Walk through the archeological sites around Acropolis
  3. Jewelry shopping tour
  4. Attica mall (city center)
